MATERIALS: Natural materials found locally; Lebanon Cedar from a tree blow down in the grounds of North Wood House, Cowes in the 1987 storms; Slate - reclaimed roofing slates, stones - collected from beaches; glass cast from recycled glass bottles.

This sculptural wall relief was inspired by single cell organisms and algae that inhabit fresh waters such as the Lukely Brook and are an indicator of cleanliness of water. These plants and animals form the beginning of the food chain from which all life on earth originates. Working from microscopic photographs the artwork represents single cell creatures, such as diatoms, rotifers, and protozoa, which feed on the algae in the stream.
